Dinosaur Jr.

Dinosaur Jr. é uma banda formada em Amherst, Massachusetts em 1984, originalmente como Dinosaur, mas por questões legais foi obrigada a mudar de nome. Juntos de Pixies e Sonic Youth, são os grandes representantes do rock alternativo que dominou a cena underground americana nos anos 80 e principal influência de diversas bandas surgidas durante os anos 90. A formação clássica da banda é composta por J Mascis (vocal/guitarra), Lou Barlow (baixo/backing vocal) e Murph (bateria). As principais características do som do Dinosaur Jr. são seus riffs melódicos acompanhados de solos de guitarra distorcidos e o vocal desleixado de J Mascis. Seus integrantes estiveram envolvidos em alguns projetos paralelos a banda, como Lou Barlow que formou o Sebadoh, que ao lado do Pavement, foram os principais ícones do indie rock durante os anos 90 e J Mascis com sua carreira solo.
