Japandroids

Japandroids é uma banda de Vancouver, Canadá formada pela dupla Brian King (guitarra/vocal) e David Prowse (bateria/vocal). Formada em 2006, a banda lançou até o momento 3 álbuns de estúdio que foram muito bem aceitos pela crítica especializada, Post-Nothing (2009), Celebration Rock (2012) e  Near to the Wild Heart of Life (2017). Sua sonoridade é uma mistura de influências, indo desde Bruce Springsteen e Tom Petty, passando por bandas como Hüsker Dü e The Replacements.

Grant Hart

Grant Vernon Hart foi um músico nascido em 18 de Março de 1961 na cidade de South Saint Paul, Minnesota. Conheceu Bob Mould numa loja de discos onde trabalhava e juntos de Greg Norton formaram o Hüsker Dü em 1979. O trio lançou seis álbuns ao longo de sua carreira, incluindo os clássicos Zen Arcade e New Day Rising. A banda se separou em 1988 por causa dos problemas de Grant com o vício em heroína. Em 1989 lançou Intolerance, primeiro álbum de sua carreira solo. Na mesma época, ele formou uma nova banda chamada Nova Mob. O grupo durou apenas cinco anos, mas lançou dois álbuns, um EP e três singles. Seu último trabalho solo foi The Argument lançado em 2013. Grant vinha lutando contra o câncer nos últimos anos, no dia 14 de Setembro de 2017 não resistiu e acabou falecendo. Aqui está a minha homenagem a esse grande músico que influenciou diversas bandas que já apareceram no blog. Descanse em paz Grant e muito obrigado.

The Suicide Machines

The Suicide Machines é uma banda de punk rock formada em 1991 em Detroit, Michigan sob o nome original de "Jack Kevorkian and The Suicide Machines". O estilo musical da banda inicialmente era uma combinação de punk rock, ska e hardcore, que caracterizou seus dois primeiros álbuns. Com o tempo a banda afastou-se deste som e foi para uma lado mais pop rock. Seus dois últimos álbuns são um retorno ao estilo de meados da década de 1990, trazendo de volta elementos de ska, hardcore e um som mais pesado. Apesar de terem assinado com uma gravadora grande para os seus quatro primeiros álbuns, a banda nunca experimentou um sucesso mainstream significativo. A banda teve diversas mudanças de formação ao longo dos anos, os fundadores Jason Navarro e Dan Lukacinsky são os únicos membros regulares. Encerraram as atividades em 2006, mas desde 2009 vem fazendo shows ocasionais de reunião.

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones é uma banda de ska-core formada em Boston, Massachusetts em 1983. "Os Bosstones", popularmente conhecidos, são frequentemente creditados como um dos criadores do gênero ska punk e de seu sub-gênero ska-core, ao misturarem elementos de ska com punk rock e hardcore. A banda lançou sete álbuns, três EPs e um álbum ao vivo enquanto saiam continuamente em turnê até o anúncio de um hiato em dezembro de 2003. Seu maior sucesso, o single "The Impression That I Get", do álbum Let's Face it de 1997 alcançou o primeiro lugar na Billboard na categoria Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks. Voltaram a ativa em 2007.

Minutemen

Minutemen foi uma banda formada em San Pedro, Califórnia, em 1980. Composta por D. Boon (vocal/guitarra), Mike Watt (baixo) e George Hurley (bateria), o grupo era conhecido na comunidade punk californiana devido à filosofia "jamming econo", um senso de calmaria refletido em suas turnês e apresentações, enquanto suas atitudes ecléticas e experimentais influenciaram bastante no desenvolvimento do rock. Seu estilo único de misturar elementos de jazz e funk ao punk rock os tornou uma das grandes bandas do cenário independente dos anos 80 ao lado de bandas como Black Flag, Bad Brains, Minor Threat e Hüsker Dü. A banda acabou em 1985 após a trágica morte de D. Boon em um acidente de carro.

Agent Orange

Agent Orange é uma banda de punk rock formada em Orange Country, Califórnia em 1979. Considerada uma das expoentes do hardcore californiano, a banda é uma das primeiras a misturar punk rock com surf music. Seu álbum de estreia, Living in Darkness, de 1981 se tornou um clássico e influenciou diversas bandas de skatepunk.
